RailSAT

Status date: 22 June 2017

The objective of the RailSAT project is to assess both the technical feasibility and commercial viability of sustainable operational services that enhance the current practices of monitoring railway track geometry and the surrounding environment by using satellite data. Earth observation, Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) and satellite navigation data are used to achieve this objective. 

CyMonS

Status date: 22 June 2017

CyMonS offers spatial and high-frequency water quality monitoring of inland surface waters, combined with a 1 to 5 days forecast for cyanobacteria scums. The service integrates Sentinel-2 imagery, hand held monitors (EcoSpot & WISP-3) and fixed position monitors (EcoWatch) to monitor cyanobacteria with a high spatial scale. The algae forecasting model allows water authorities to timely issue warnings and take mitigation measures.

ASTROCAST

ASTROCAST is a global communication service designed for M2M (Machine to Machine) and IoT (Internet of Things). A service that can provide coverage not only in remote areas on land, oceans, and sky but also is optimized for mobility applications globally.

SaMoLoSa

The Ovinto SaMoLoSa demonstration project addresses the use of satellite technology for the reduction of transport risk, security enhancement and optimisation of logistic operations by the tracking and monitoring of extremely dangerous goods in unpowered, mobile transport units such as rail tank cars and intermodal tank containers.

ArTeK

ArTeK aims at developing an innovative, effective and sustainable service offered to Properties managers to have a complete and systematically updated view and enhanced awareness of the state of conservation of immovable Cultural Properties and to support their management and fruition. ArTeK integrated service builds on space assets (earth observation, navigation and satellite communication) as well as additional technologies (drones, on site equipment, etc.) in relation to specific user needs.

EMUSER

EMUSER is an innovative obstacle detection system integrated with a satellite Broad Band link for the safety of active level crossings.

EMUSER provides increased resilience in case of natural disasters or damages to the rail infrastructure. It can be installed in areas that are uncovered by conventional communication networks.

IoTrees

Forests cover 30% of the Earths land area and provide a vital role by converting atmospheric carbon into oxygen as part of the growth process. Forests are essentially the ‘Lungs of the Earth’. Determining the rate of forest growth is an essential indicator of the health of a forest and also a key indicator to estimate future growth performance. Climate Change is a major concern to humanity and many countries around the globe have established national forest inventories to determine forest growth and health. Treemetrics through the Internet of Trees (IoTrees) project has developed a vision and plan to revolutionise the way trees and forests are measured and monitored by utilising latest Satcom and IoT technologies.

SatCare

SatCare aims to demonstrate two systems of remote diagnostics using a broadband managed communication system to include satcom.  The SatCare activity will allow for video rich data to transmit scans to an hospital from a vehicle on the scene of the emergency and en-route to the hospital. Enabling a robust clinical decision support system for prehospital patients has an impact on the health outcomes for patients and can improve the productivity and efficiency of the ambulance service. Through the addition of satcom we can broaden the coverage of this service to include areas where terrestrial broadband communication (LTE) is unavailable or over-subscribed. 

ASAP DP

The proposed Agricultural Service is designed as a ‘One-stop-shop’ Service for Farmers and Owners of Agriculture Production Companies (and other various Users) providing information during the growing season in order to increase the efficiency of the management of the fields, and to obtain the highest potential yield with the optimal doseage of fertilizers.

AMMO

Ascend offers two distinct disruptive services that cover all types and sizes of airports, from the smallest to the largest ones. These services offer analysis of Earth Observation data for safety monitoring of the airport surroundings, and combine it with a cloud and browser based management system. Thereby the AMMO services are supporting the airport operators who are asked by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to comply with the regulation EU 139/2014 on aerodrome safety.
